Born in Tokyo, Japan, Aya Araki began her journey in movement through rhythmic gymnastics at the age of five before discovering ballet at six. Growing up between Japan and Singapore, she developed a love for dance from an early age, inspired by the opportunity to experience different cultures and artistic perspectives.

Aya received her classical ballet training in Tokyo, where she built a strong technical foundation while performing in numerous productions throughout her youth. Eager to broaden her artistic experience, she later continued her studies through Orlando Ballet School, where she had the opportunity to work with Oregon Ballet Theatre and further develop her versatility as a dancer.

Aya later returned to Japan, where she performed soloist roles with Ballet Tradition while also sharing her passion for ballet by teaching students of all ages, from young children to adults.

In 2025, Aya moved to the United States to join World Ballet Company. Touring nationally and performing in 154 performances throughout the season has been one of the most rewarding experiences of her career, allowing her to bring classical ballet to audiences across the country while growing alongside a community of inspiring artists.

Aya is excited to join Dance Theatre Seattle and looks forward to sharing her artistry with audiences. She is grateful for the opportunity to continue growing as an artist while connecting with people through the beauty of ballet.
